The Curtain Saga...

I have a pretty significant love/hate relationship with sewing projects.  When I do have to sew, I prefer projects that I can just come up with and wing my way through them.  Anything involving patterns or fancy curves... HA, yeah forget it.  Anyway, I made a few sets of curtains when we moved into our home a few years ago and I was not excited that I might have to make a set for the nursery. (Have a ever mentioned I am a "one and done" kind of craft person?  ...more on that at a later date)  

I trecked all OVER this town and spent hours searching the internet for something perfect for the nursery... slowly, I began to realize the inevitable was going to happen.  SIGH.  I was gonna have to make them.  

But THEN!  In my intense desire to NOT use my sewing machine... I found double sided fabric tape!  ahhh haaa!  You all may know of it's existence, but this is a new revelation for me.  And needless to say.... I fell in L.O.V.E. love baby! 

In the end, the curtains ended up being a half-homemade project.  I found these lovely sheers at Pottery Barn Kids on sale for $12 each!  I then bought 2 1/2 yards of muslin at Joann's for $3/yd to line the sheers with.  And I ended up needing 3 packs of the fabric fuse.  And a pair of scissors!  ....I really need to invest in a nice pair of shears.  Haha... sheers vs. shears... don't get confused now peeps... ohhh, I crack myself up! :)

 I split the sheers down the middle making to 22 inch wide panels (63 inches in length).  And then began with the fabric fuse.  Well technically that was reverse.  I stuck the fuse tape down the middle of the sheers BEFORE cutting them down the center of the tape itself.  The fuse was like 1/2 inch wide or something and I didn't want that much of a seam.  It ended up working great because I didn't have to deal with any frayed edges or snags AND it cut the project time down almost in half!  :)

So stick, cut, peel, and fold... beautiful!

Once the sheers were divided and hemmed, I placed them on top of the muslin.  Then drew a dotted line along side the edge of the sheers and placed the fuse tape on top of the line and then did a repeat.  Stick, cut, peel, and fold!  

Here's the finished project!  Eventually, I may add a short, simple valence.  And I decided that if the light is too much once R starts sleeping in here then I could get some roll down blackout curtains to replace the blinds with... but hopefully that won't be necessary.
