Fourth of the July was celebrated at Litchfield Beach, SC
this year. David's mother's side of the family used to go there yearly
when he was growing up. Since the family had not been in at least 10
years, they decided it would be fun to go back now that the kids are older!
It was a great time. Our little family was there for four nights
and we had a blast! Roderick got to see the ocean for the first time. As
you can see from what follows... they were not exactly fast friends!
He was a real trooper though! The next day we got him
back out (this time in all his swim gear!) and he really enjoyed it! He
put his toes in the sand and let the tide come up and wash it away from around
his feet. Eventually he even plopped that cute little booty down as well!
... this all lasted about 5 minutes and then it was over! Boy, he
did get in some great beach naps though... and slept like a CHAMP each night we
were there!
One thing that was lots of fun for us was eating fresh
oysters! D bought a 1/2 bushel of them for us to chow down on! We
at them raw, steamed, and Rockafeller style!! They were sooo delicious!!
We had such a great time with all the family! There
was plenty of fine competition for games like Cornhole and Ladder Golf on the
beach, lots of yummy snacks and drinks to go around, and plenty of time to play
in the waves!
To top the trip off we got to see the most INCREDIBLE
fireworks display! Now we know... the beach is where to be on the 4th!

Roderick Freeman....Beach Baby!! How I loved our week together. I never noticed him crying and when did you feed him and change his diaper? You did everything with such ease and grace that I only saw this happy smiling baby all the time.
ReplyDeletePlanning our meals and cooking together was the best part of my day. Next summer we will be eating mountain trout instead of oysters!
